It is my heart to capture photographs that feel like an old love letter

Hi, I’m Bethany —

I’m a wife and mom to two boys, and someone who is constantly amazed by how quickly life moves.

I became a photographer as a newlywed, wanting to capture every moment of the season we were in. Once I became a mother in 2011 the desire to remember every detail grew even more.

I’ve watched my own babies grow into boys and now young men.

I’ve watched little hands become bigger hands. Personalities and preferences emerge, seasons change and childhood slowly give way to young adults.

And it has made me fully realize: We don’t get to keep these seasons.

But we can keep pieces of them. Photographs are a unique gift that can make you feel like you stepped back into the good ol’ days.

Why Love, Gray?

When my now husband joined the Army back in 2009 he had to go through basic training, where letters were our only way to communicate. We couldn’t call whenever we wanted or send a quick text when we missed each other. We had to wait for the mail. So we wrote.

Early on in dating, he had given me the nickname “Gray” after discovering that it was my middle name. So when I signed those letters to him, I would sign them simply: Love, Gray.

Years later, when I started my photography business, I kept thinking about those letters. How years later, you could find one tucked away and suddenly remember exactly how you felt when you wrote it. I wanted my photographs to do the same thing.

I want you to be able to look through your photographs years from now and feel something rush back—the season, the people, the little details, the love.

So Love, Gray Photography became my way of signing every session like a love letter.

A little piece of this life, preserved for you to come back to.

What I want to give you —

I don’t want to simply document what your family looks like. I want to document what it feels like to be your family.

The way your daughter reachs for your hand. The way your little boy still fits perfectly in your arms. The quiet glance between you and your husband. The things you might not think to photograph because they’re just part of everyday life. Those are often the things you’ll miss most.

So if you’re looking for only a few perfectly posed photographs where everyone sits still and smiles on command, I might not be your girl.
